Social Cities are now almost a week late. Parent calls have been made. Please ensure work is being completed on time.

Attention all patrollers,
On Wednesday February 2nd you will be receiving patroller training in the gym from 8:30-9:30am.
An announcement will be made when the patrollers need to come for training.
We will have our schedule sent out shortly after the training is complete.
Patrollers will only be patrolling in the mornings for now. Hopefully, we can have some parent volunteers join us so we can do pm patrolling.
Thanks,
Your patrol supervisors,

Mr. Lancee and Mr. Shackelton

Today in room 16:

We started our morning with a desk clean and some time to study before our pillars of care assembly.

Thanks to all the winners and great presenters in our presentation today.

After our assembly we did our weekly spelling test. They have been sent home to be signed!

Before we went off to gym we went through our kindness box today. Our kindness box is a new thing we have started in room 16. Each week the students can write a note of kindness and submit it to the box. We then read them as a class every Friday!

After gym we had snack and took some time to read the end of Touching Spirit Bear.

We finished our day by cleaning the room and having an appreciation circle to review our class goals and the wisdom we gained from the week.

After snack and recess we had a chance to read another two chapters of our novel study. We will finish the book hopefully by Wednesday.

After reading we did skipping and fitness in gym.

We finished our morning with a review of rotation and revolution concepts in space. Students filled in a concept map that had several questions about the concepts we covered. We finished this in the afternoon.

The last chunk of our day we had an appreciation circle and I asked the students three questions.

1. What would you like to learn about this week?

2. Who/What do you appreciate?

3. What is our goal as a class?

Our goal for this week is to try and print neater. (Student chosen)

Social Cities and Write ups Due TODAY!!! I had several students tell me they are done and left it at home or nearly done. I want these handed in tomorrow so I do not have to make phone calls to parents.

Today in room 16:

We started our morning with a survey on google classroom to measure the students feelings on zones of regulation, sit spots and daily mindfulness. Anyone who has missed this survey can still access it through google classroom.

We then used the next part of our morning to finish reading chapter 18 in Touching Spirit Bear. Today I let the students use technology to answer the different questions after our reading.

After an indoor recess and snack we continued pt 2 of our lesson on triangles and angles. Yesterday we learned about the different ways to classify triangles by angles and sides.

Angles: acute, obtuse and right.

Side lengths: Scalene, isosceles and equilateral.

We learned how to classify triangles by names such as acute equilateral and obtuse scalene!

After math we had a presentation from WE Events about how we can support people in our community through Equity.

Room 16 had mission impossible today with Ms Sterne before lunch and indoor recess.

In the afternoon we had science and explored the concepts of rotation, orbit and revolution. This will help us to understand our day night cycle and the seasons in the year.

Today in room 16:

We started our morning with some DEAR time to read our library books from the previous day.

The next chunk of our morning was spent doing a big review of measurement concepts for our test tomorrow. We covered unit conversions, area and perimeter of triangles, rectangles and L shapes, volume of cubes and finding the LWH of a cube that we know the volume of.

We then went outside for recess and time on the compound (Thank goodness for the warmer weather!)

In LA today we did a small group activity to discuss whether the main character of our novel study handled his banishment. Students discussed this serious topic and shared their answers with the class. The last chunk was spent reading another chapter of Touching Spirit Bear.

After LA we had science and continued the daytime amount of sun and observations we can make about the sky. We are graphing the amount of daylight as we go and noticing which planets can be seen each day! We also worked in small groups to create posters showing different things that emit or reflect light in our solar system, atmosphere and classroom.

The students had gym with Ms Sterne today and began gymnastics. The rule is...no neck stuff. Which means, no handstands, flips or holds that would otherwise cause damage to the neck.

We finished our day with some mindfulness meditation before working on our local government cities.

Hope everyone has a Terrific Thursday evening!

Today in room 16:

We started our morning with a welcome back conversation and a reminder of the school, classroom and covid safety rules.

We did a desk change and placed ourselves into rows to keep safe and follow covid protocol.

After setting up our room we had some time to reflect on our winter breaks. Students had 30 minutes to write all about what they did on their break, the food they ate, presents they got and more.

We then went outside for recess and time on the field (Thank goodness for the warmer weather!)

The next chunk of our morning was spent doing review for our test on Friday. We are continuing our exploration of measurement this week focusing on area, perimeter and volume of 2D and 3D shapes. I sent the test from before the break home today. Correcting the work is a great way to see where you went wrong and improve for next time.

After math we had science and began following the daytime amount of sun and observations we can make about the sky. We are graphing the amount of daylight as we go and noticing which planets can be seen each day!
