Important school due dates:
Oct. 13 (Next Wednesday) Concrete Poems are due! We started them today, if you need to use the weekend to submit your best work then that may be a good decision!
Oct 14 (Next Thursday) Place value test. Will review everything we have covered up until this point.
Today in room 16:
We started our morning with DEAR and time to work on concrete poems before we started RoboGarden coding.
Robogarden coding is a program we have signed our students up for that gives the students an opportunity to learn how to code. This can be used to learn the basics of creating video games, apps and much more. I encouraged the students to try this on their own over the weekend! Unfortunately....the program was not running properly today and we will have to try again next week. I gave students the remainder of the time to do mathletics.
After snack and recess we had another 30 minutes to work on their concrete poems. (THESE ARE DUE NEXT WEDNESDAY)!
The next chunk of the morning was spent with Mr Wiens in music and myself playing soccer outside.
When we came back inside we started a new social project. The students are creating a skit about equity and equality! They must have 1 or 2 skits about each concept. They can also create a commercial that advertises a product which shows equity or equality.
After lunch we had mindfulness and recess before finishing our day with science. Today we became dendrochronologists and learned about tree cookies! The study of tree rings and tree cookies give us huge insight into the weather, age, soil and sunlight patterns of a trees growth! Next week we will be looking in depth at the factors that influence a tree rings growth.
