Happy Wednesday Oct 6, 2021

Reminders:

1. Return classroom contract ASAP PLEASE!
2. Return updated digital citizenship form ASAP. Your child cannot use the computers or tech in the school otherwise.
3. Large packet of forms sent home! Please read and return all required forms ASAP 
1. -Some were resent home again today to be signed
4. Vaccination forms were sent home on Thursday and today. Please sign and return them ASAP

Important school due dates:

    Oct. 13 (Next Wednesday)  Concrete Poems are due! We started them today, if you need to use the weekend to submit your best work then that may be a good decision!

    Oct 14 (Next Thursday) Place value test. Will review everything we have covered up until this point.

Today in room 16:

We started our morning with some math review and catch up time for students. The math review had students computing subtraction and addition questions with decimals.

Our math today was a large block that we spent finishing math work from the previous two days. The concepts we covered were comparing and rounding decimals. 

After snack and recess we had DEAR and library.

We then moved into social and learned about the difference between Equity and Equality!

We must first have equity, before we can enjoy equality. 

Equity is about everyone getting the opportunities they need to be successful. 

Equality is about everyone getting the same.

We will be planning and starting skits tomorrow!

The next chunk of our morning was spent planning and creating our concrete poems. Concrete poems are poems in which the words take the shape of topic you are writing about. Ex. Rainbow bending lines that form a rainbow shape. Today we started the rough drafts. Tomorrow we will draw the pictures and add extra details and literary terms before starting our good copies. 

The students then had gym with Ms. Sterne before heading to lunch.

In the afternoon we had recess and mindfulness before starting science. 

Today's focus was on the functions of the leaves. 

Yesterday we learned about the leaf parts and their functions. Today we applied it to learning about photosynthesis and the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide.
