Today in room 5:
We started our morning with some DEAR time as today was a Day 3. Afterwards we moved into math and began to compare decimals up to the thousandths using the < > = symbols. We also plotted these decimals on number lines.

After snack and recess we did new jobs before starting LA. Today we looked at personification and a new poem that we will be starting this week. We covered the concrete poem, which is a poem that takes the shape of the topic it is about. Ex. Lollipop shaped poem about candy.

The students then had music with Mr Wiens and Gym with me outside playing soccer. Today in gym we covered drills around ball control then played a few games.

When we came back inside we wrote some notes in social and had a discussion on "What is a citizen? What is a citizens responsibility?"  and "What are governments? What is a governments responsibility?"

After lunch we had time in the field and mindfulness indoors before moving into the class for science. Science today had us comparing and describing leaf types by their sides, veins, edges, and shapes. Students worked in small groups using their notes to describe the different characteristics of the laminated leaves I brought into class.

We finished off our day by doing a desk change in which I let the students choose their desk in the room while still remaining in rows. TRUST is one of our biggest values in the class in that I let students sit where they want for October, but if they are constantly distracted or talking I will move them. We then tidied the class and went on our way!

Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday evening!

Mr Lancee
