Thursday Oct 21

Just informing everyone that today we are going on a walking trip to confluence park. It is only 19 mins away and is within the walking range of the school.

We will be leave by 9:30 and be back by 10:30 am.

Today in room 5:

We started our morning some time to read while I did reading testing with some students. 

Every Thursday we have Robogarden Coding for 1 hour. It was great to see all the students completing different assignments and advancing their coding abilities. 

After math we cleaned up and packed up a snack to get ready to head out to confluence park. This week is walk for Wenjack week and I wanted the students to experience split rock and experiencing the land while walking for a good cause. 

When we returned the students had music before starting an LA task. The LA task today had us reading an excerpt from Silverwing. Students used a tool to visualize what they heard in the text through sound, sight, feeling and any words that stood out to them. Once they finished the visualization tool they answered some reading comprehension questions about what the text. 

In the afternoon we had recess and mindfulness before our second fire drill. Everyone lined up quietly and moved through the halls to the designated spot. The last chunk of our day we had a special guest presenter teaching us about important health and food safety concepts. Every Thursday afternoon we will be listening to a speaker and filling in some health manuals.
